A resolution revolution

Resolutions meh. As we know, 92% of us fail in our resolutions year after year.

We all know its good to set goals and strive to achieve them, but when it comes to resolutions each year so many of us fail time and again and each year resolve once again to go through this process.

If resolutions haven’t worked for you in the past, maybe it’s time for a resolution revolution.

Redirect your thinking and instead choose a word for the year, a theme to help guide actions and decisions. Rather than focusing on a single goal, a theme can take you right through the year, helping you to set your intentions and inform everything you do, all you need to do is ask a simple question: “Is this aligned to my theme?”

Take some time when you pick your word, it might not come to you straight away. Choose a word that is positive rather than negative (think ‘helpful’ vs ‘sacrifice’) and think about what you want to BE rather than what you want to DO.

If you need some help, here’s some things to think about:

  • What are your values?
  • What do you want to focus on this year?
  • What do you need more or less of?
  • What needs to change?

Once you’ve got your word, its time to put it into practice and make it stick. Make sure you write it somewhere where you can see it, take time to review it, think about it and feel it. Put it into action when you’re making decisions and let it help guide your way.
